It's that time of year again, and here at AngstLAB Records we're celebrating the winter holidays by doing what we do best: making music! Mike Dailor is a DJ, remixer, producer, musician and multimedia artist based in Rochester NY, USA. Mike started his musical career as a guitarist, but in college he traded in his axe for a set of headphones after a trip to the local theatre to see ‘‘Saturday Night Fever‘‘. After a successful run as a disco DJ at iconic clubs such as Rochester‘s 747 and Buffalo‘s Playboy Club in the late 70‘s, he jumped on the just-breaking wave of Hip Hop and rode it through the 80‘s, landing a weekly mix show on radio station WDKX and producing a string of mix plates (the now-infamous ‘‘Garbage Plates‘‘) that were heard on radio stations and beat boxes all across the country during the summer of 1985. Mike hung up the headphones and put away the turntables for several years in the late 80‘s to concentrate on family life, and then in 1990 his brother gave him a cassette tape that would send him off in yet another musical direction. The album was Nine Inch Nails‘ ‘‘Pretty Hate Machine‘‘, and after listening to it non-stop for the better part of a month Mike was back in the studio writing industrial music on a computer and trying to figure out how to mix it live at clubs. By the end of the decade he had it pretty well figured out, having written his own software to allow him to DJ with digital audio and video files on laptop computers and founded the hugely successful ‘‘AngstLAB‘‘ underground club night that continues to this day. The 2000‘s find Mike hard at work as a DJ, remixer, videographer, electronic musician and producer, and if wishes come true his favorite production project ‘‘Silent Auction‘‘ has already released their first platinum-selling album by the time you read this.
